Whakarewarewa & The Duck Tour Combo

Experience the journey of the Māori! Explore the stunning Rotorua’s lakes district our ancients called home via a guided Duck tour, then enjoy famous hangi pie & geothermally cooked corn and cultural experience at Whakarewarewa – the Living Māori Village.

Rotorua is most famous for its geothermal wonders, rich cultural history, heritage and spectacular lakes and volcanoes. Experience all of this with our Whakarewarewa & Duck Tour Combo.

Exploring Rotorua’s stunning scenery by amphibious vehicle with Rotorua Duck Tours.   Soak up fascinating stories of old from your entertaining Conductor, and, in terms of the duck tour, there’s two to choose from!

Either ‘splashdown’ on Lake Tikitapu and Lake Okareka (without leaving your seat) on the 90 minutes Rotorua City and Lakes Tour and learn about our heritage buildings, natural hot springs and lakes, or alternatively, take our ultimate tour, the Tarawera and Lakes Tour.  On this journey, you’ll learn about Mt Tarawera, the volcano that last erupted in 1886 changing our history and landscape forever. Our guides will tell you the story of this volcano and its impact, including how the local Māori tribe was impacted, resulting in their relocation to Whakarewarewa Village. In addition to  Lake Tarawera, our tour route splashes down on Lake Tikitapu and Lake Okareka. Did we mention you’ll have a lot of fun too?

As part of this combo, you also get the ultimate authentic Māori culture experience at Whakarewarewa – the Living Māori Village. Home to two sub-tribes, Maori have lived here for hundreds of years and ‘Whaka’ (as it is known by locals) is a real living community that’s steeped in heritage, culture and geothermal wonders. On arrival,  pick up your hangi pie & corn from the Café, enjoy while overlooking the geothermal under the shade sails or any picnic tables in the village. Check out the world-famous Pōhutu Geyser, as well as explore the steaming pools, bubbling mud and traditional carvings of the village.  You’ll learn Maori culture and insights into village life on a geothermal plateau on the guided tour. The engaging and interactive Māori cultural performance will give you goosebumps!

This is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a number of Rotorua’s most unique and impressive experiences rolled into one!
